Oopsie Poopsies

This is how we're taking baths these days. Both baby girls in the tub together. Rivers gets washed up first. Only Mommy washes the baby, Cumorah can watch and wash her own body with her washcloth. (We've avoided a cup full of water being poured in Rivers face so far.) Rivers doesn't like her bath much. At some point she usually cries like you've just stuck her with a dull needle our something. But it is good to have a routine, it is good to be clean, and it is good to have a little exercise and awake time before bedtime. After Rivers is all dried and lotioned and bundled up with a hat and a binky, it's Cumorah's turn to be washed. So far it's been working really well. I have both their towels and washcloths on hooks, ready beforehand. I have a little basket that I keep Rivers' diaper, binky, jammies, hat, blanket and lotion in so that I have it all together before I get them in the bath. I bring in the bouncy seat for Rivers to sit in after her bath. Cumorah is now a big girl and walks to her bedroom wrapped in her towel (instead of being carried), so that I can carry Rivers. Yep, I've got it all under control.

Tonight I had two poopy bottoms to wipe before placing them in the bath. Not to worry, I have a package of wipes in the bathroom for just that purpose. I am so prepared. And then, what inevitably had to happen at some point during one of our double bath parties, happened. Rivers pooped. In the bath. So I whisked out Cumorah. And then out came the toys before the little poopy particles could drift far. Rivers was rinsed and finished with her bath for the evening. The bathtub was drained and rinsed and refilled for Cumorah. In the confusion Cumorah ran crying and naked through the house to find her father, I think because she thought she was in trouble for some reason and got kicked out of the bath. Brian had to carry her back in and we tried explaining about how, "Uh-oh! Rivers went poop in the bath. Silly Rivers." I don't think Cumorah understood. Brian was really glad he wasn't the mom when he watched me scrub the poop off of Rivers bath seat with my fingers. In the end, everything worked out just fine. It will probably happen again at some point before Rivers gets a little older, but poop is just part of life. And with another baby girl in the house, there's a lot more of it. Poop, that is.

Cute, cute pictures. Don't you love being a mom? Even if it means you have to clean poop out of the bathtub.

That is hiliarous, except for the part where Cumorah was sad. I am sure Brian was very releived it was you doing the dirty job so he didn't have too, I would be.
