Gone Fishing

Brian finished his last exam on Tuesday morning. Yeah!!!!!!

I can't believe that our first year of medical school is done. Crazy. We're a quarter of the way finished. So Tuesday afternoon we spent playing with Brian's mom who was out here for the week. It was very nice to spend time all together. Brian was super happy and relieved to be finished. As we sat on the couch watching a movie that night (an extremely rare treat), Brian looked up his test grade from that morning and discovered that he got the second highest score in the class. Awesome! He just got better and better at this school thing this semester. I'm super proud of him. He got a ton of A's.

This morning Brian took care of a bunch of auto maintainance chores that have been put off. Then he went fishing with our neighbor, Travis. Travis and Julia are the best neighbors ever. You can't beat Midwestern neighbors. Travis and Julia are so kind and fun. They're always doing nice things for us. Travis has been inviting Brian to go fishing since we moved here but he's never been able to until today. He purchased a fishing license online right before he went and put it in the window of his fishing license hat that he's never used for a fishing license. He's used it for lots of other custom messages, the first being "Just Married" on our honeymoon which got us a lot of special attention. This was his first ever fishing license and he was pretty excited.

It was this big...
Brian enjoyed himself immensely. He said it was really relaxing to lean back in the boat with his feet propped up on the side casually casting and reeling it back in. He said it was definitely a guy thing to do. They caught a ton of fish, more than they brought home. They brought home a bunch. It took them a couple hours to clean them all when they got home. Cumorah really likes fish so we brought her out to see them before we put her to bed. She was pretty solemn and quiet about it all. Julia is going to call me tomorrow afternoon so we can get together to cook them. Too fun. We've enjoyed fish several times from Travis' fishing trips. I'm happy that Brian enjoyed himself so much. Just as long as he doesn't make fishing trips too regular of a habit...
