Rivers is Born

Saturday is a special day...

it's the day we welcomed our second baby girl.

He's such a proud papa.
Even if he does keep getting little girls.

Rivers Taylor arrived on Saturday, May 3, 2008 at 5:32 pm. She weighed 7 lbs. 10 oz. and measured 20 inches long. She was born with dark hair, much to her Father's delight. He did note that it is starting to lighten (I wasn't going to say anything about it.) The first things I noticed when they set her squirming tiny purple body on my tummy were the...

dimple on her chin (like mine)

and her huge long skinny feet.

She has long fingers as well.

Rivers is a beautiful baby.

Rivers is a good baby. She is not overly fussy and she is sleeping well.

This is Rivers' first bath (left). She still doesn't like them much as you can see from this picture taken almost two weeks later (right).

Mommy's baby girl. Brian says our girls get their frowny faces from me. I don't know what he means by that.

I'm so happy to have another daughter. I love both my little girls so much. I feel extremely blessed to be their mother. I truly am finding joy in motherhood. I'm also finding sleep deprivation, frustration, anxiety, heavy responsibility, and monotony.:) But the JOY definitely outweighs all that other stuff. I love watching my girls grow. I love loving them, taking care of them and teaching them. It is such a privilege, such an honor. And I'm so glad that we have Brian. He is an absolutely marvelous father and a spectacular husband. I couldn't handle this motherhood stuff without him. He is my strength and my comfort. And he's Cumorah's favorite person in the world. I might as well be chopped liver when Daddy is around. We'll see how Rivers feels about it.

I bought a 0-3 month coming home outfit instead of a newborn outfit because Cumorah barely fit in her newborn outfit and I just figured I would be having another 9 lb baby. I'm glad I didn't have another 9 lb. baby, but her outfit was a little bit too big. I crocheted Rivers' blanket and knit her hat.

We came home on Sunday evening. It was wonderful to be back at home with both our daughters. And even though it was a very busy weekend, Brian did extremely well on both of his exams on Monday. He felt it was definitely a miracle. He is continuing to do well on all his exams during these final hectic weeks of school.

All in all our little family of four is doing really well. We're healthy and happy and adjusting fairly well to the changes that come with a new baby. We all love Rivers very much and we're glad she's here with us.
