The Kitchen Helper

Now she's the Queen of the Kitchen

Cumorah loves to help in the kitchen. She has been helping to put the dishes away since she could first walk. It was her idea. She took a little plastic bowl that belongs to her out of the dishwasher one morning and surprised me by walking across the kitchen into the dining room to the container that they belong in and put it away. She started handing me the silverware one piece at a time for me to put away. And then she started to take a spoon and get up on tiptoes to push it over the edge of the drawer. (The forks and knives were too hard to get over and would fall and hit her in the face, which she didn't like much.) Then she got a little bit taller and could tip just about anything over the edge of the drawers. She started putting away measuring cups and all sorts of things. Before we knew it she was surprising us by knowing where everything belongs.

Cumorah also likes to climb the step ladder and be up at counter top level where everything is happening. So...

we decided to get a Kitchen Helper for our little kitchen helper.

Now she can climb up and put away (or mostly play with) all of the silverware.

Today she helped me make cupcakes. It was super fun for her to be right there with me. And she was super helpful of course. I cracked an egg into the bowl and, without thinking, threw the shell across the kitchen into the sink, as is my habit. Cumorah grabbed an egg out of the carton, turned around, and cocked her arm back, ready to throw, because apparently that is what you do with eggs. Fortunately, I caught her arm and safely recovered the egg before she actually threw it. She did throw the next shell onto the floor, though she made a pretty good effort to get it to the sink.

Here's Cumorah being super helpful by heading up the Quality Control Tasting department.

Hi! I like helping Mom in the kitchen.

And thank you again to the Blodgetts who gave us this super cute apron when Cumorah was born. Cindie knows I like Strawberry Shortcake (the original). I'm super excited that Cumorah can wear it now. I've been looking forward to this. And she'll be wearing it for a long while since it goes down to her ankles at the moment.

I'm glad she's enjoying the kitchen helper. I can't believe how smart she is,knowing where everything goes. I think the picture of her putting the spoons away is about the cutest thing I've ever seen!
