sunday and the latest project

This Sunday was scheduled to be a relaxing Sunday with just us at home spending time as a fam, BUT unexpected fun adventures are always happening to us and we ran into a good friend and ended up having yet another fun Company-for-Sunday-Dinner party complete with giant bubbles on the back lawn.

This is how our Sunday started with smiles and cute little baby girls in jammies...

And here is what I found Daddy and the girls doing at one point...

Later when we got to church, the meeting was just starting and we quickly took our seats. As we were settling the girls and our bags (diaper bags, scripture bags, etc., etc.) I happened to glance around and saw two familiar faces. Then I did a double take and disbelieving my own eyes, I leaned over to Brian and asked, "Is that Leilani and her mom?" After Brian finally understood that I was asking if it was Leilani Kitz our good friend from back in California, he looked and simply said, "Yes." Wow. I was trying to make sense of it. Why on earth would they be in Iowa, who in their right mind comes to Iowa? :) Just kidding, I like Iowa and Iowans. After all, Rivers is a native Iowan. Anyway, the only thing I could come up with was maybe they were passing through on a visit to Nauvoo or something. Come to find out Leilani just finished her masters and has moved here for her new job. Super exciting. So, with her mom in town this week, we had to invite them over for dinner. And since we're making dinner and inviting people, we might as well invite more people... So that is how it came to be that we had Leilani and her mom, Jacoby and Dan (aka Jake), Sean, and Mike over. We had a great time, even though our waffle machine broke (the new one that the company replaced our first broken one with) and we had to use our not-so-cool waffle maker that was not the best choice for the waffle batter I made. Oh well. Jacoby and Dan did bring over their two big bubble wands and Brian got out his. Our bubble juice has been aging all summer in the basement so it was good stuff. Mike tucked his tie in his shirt and had a go. He was a natural, producing professional looking bubbles, and it was his first time.

With all our visitors Brian had plenty of opportunity to take them down to the basement and show off his latest project. He's been waiting for me to post it, so even though our pics do not show it in action...

It is a treadmill desk, one of many amazing results of the nutrition class that Brian has right now. Yes, I like it. Yes, I wanted it when he told me about it. And yes, I do actually use it. Everyday. I'm on it right now. Walking on an incline, typing away. It's awesome. It's already covered in piles of papers, thank you notes I never mailed, bills, SAA playgroup ideas, a baby monitor and the digital camera hooked up to get my pictures off of it. There is a baby fence around it now, and my filing cabinet and other desk paraphenilia are set up as well. You really can't go more than 2 miles an hour while working and right now I usually go 1.5. Today I've already walked almost 3 miles and that has just been checking my email, looking up a recipe, blogging, and checking Craigs list for something that I can turn into a play kitchen for Cumorah's christmas present. I've been on it at all different times of the day, sometimes just 10 minutes. I love it! Marvelous idea. Brian built it the Saturday after he heard about it. He's amazing.

If you keep posting these sissy pictures of me dancing and whatnot, I'm going to commandeer the blog and run a series on manliness, or something. At least you added the treadmill desk to offset some of this icky girlie blegh you keep posting.

I acutally cried a little watching the daddy, daughter dance. Back off Brian! Some of us like that sissy girly stuff. I thought it was sweet.

BTW, I'm putting in my order now for the treadmill desk. I'm sure you'll be backed up on orders for that, Chiristmas is right around the corner :)

AHA! There's the wildly acclaimed treadmill desk I've been hearing so much about. That is completely awesome! I think you could totally market and sell something like this. (Especially in Utah. Just think of it . . . all those scrapbookers can now multitask!) I love it, love it.
