imagination

Cumorah has been really getting into imaginative play lately. She often gets onto her 'sail' in the living room. Her 'sail' is a boat and varies in actual object from time to time. Our large volume of the Complete Tales of Curious George has often been her 'sail'. Today it was the couch cushion. She jumps off and into the 'water' where she goes swimming, wriggling around on the carpet. Today she also informed me that she was walking on the water.

Rivers joined Cumorah on the couch cushions this morning and had the time of her life. She loved to crawl up onto them and attempt to jump on them. She smiled very big and made lots of happy squealing noises. The funniest part is that she invariably tumbled off, somersaults, falling backwards, rug burns to the face. It didn't really seem to matter to her, she thought it was all immensely fun. I just made sure that there was nothing near the cushions for her to fall onto and prevented Cumorah from dragging them to the wood floor.

Cumorah discovered a great game to play with the water table on the back porch when it is empty. She climbs up into it and sits in it. It's her boat and she likes to load it with the balls and keep Rivers from getting them. I'm not really sure what the difference between 'boat' and 'sail' is. I'm not sure why she has a sail in the living room and a boat on the back deck. I suppose it doesn't really matter. I'm just glad she's having a good time.

While I was finishing up dinner this evening Brian was playing with the girls outside. Cumorah wanted to ride her bike so he told her she needed to go get her helmet. She came walking through the kitchen dragging her girly Disney Princess helmet behind her by one of the straps and said, "This is my doggy."

Cumorah drew some pictures of people today. She has been doing pretty good happy faces for a very long time but out of the blue came full on people with bodies and even noses this evening. I love the whole arm-sticking-out-of-the-side-of-a-huge-head stage. It's awesome and so developmentally appropriate at this age. Cumorah's people have arms that are complete with a circle hand. I'll have to scan and post one of the pictures when it's not so late.
