Dr. Dad

Just the other night Rivers' stuffed Blue Jay started to make terrible electronic scratchy-screachy noises instead of it's usual authentic "jay, jay, jay!".  There was initially fears that it had been broken by a little bit of rough play.  Rivers was beyond devastated.  I even got blamed for it in her desperation (ahh motherhood).  Fortunately, Dr. Dad correctly diagnosed Blue Jay with a bad battery.  He was going to put poor Blue Jay on his ever growing pile of things to fix, but very quickly decided this would not do.  Anyone who has witnessed a display of Rivers' life-may-as-well-be-over form of despair will understand.  So emergency surgery was immediately performed.  Blue jay is not the type of toy that was really meant to have a battery change.  An incision was made, the voice box extracted and the battery replaced.  As soon as Rivers heard the restored "jay, jay, jay!" she happily went off to her bath while Dr. Dad closed things up.  Yes, he is using a suturing needle, and yes, he assured Rivers that he gave Blue Jay the proper anesthetic.

Well, done, Brian! Ryan, too, loves to use his surgical skills outside of the O.R. He's even patched up our sofa a time or two.

And you know, my boys rarely if ever blame me for the woes in their lives, but my dear daughter does it every day. Is it a girl thing?

I am loving all these updates.
