dress rehearsal

Here it is.  The girls in their first dance recital.  This is the dress rehearsal.   There are three separate classes in the number, so their first time on stage all together is a little rough.   The other class of little girls had a bit of drama over who stands where.  Cumorah, Rivers and the other two girls in their class had a bit of a hiccup with which way they were supposed to skip a couple times.  But I think my girls are pretty darn cute.  I love the part where Cumorah lifts Rivers.  It's so fun.  They practiced a lot.  I also am amused that Cumorah keeps directing other girls, especially Rivers.

solo

Cumorah was really excited to be up on stage for the first time.  She couldn't help but dance her own little improv solo while her teacher talked with the big girls to try and work out all the kinks in the number.

Surf's up?

The kidos trying out the sail I modified over the summer.

We need to find a calmer summer lake to practice on.  Too many big rollers on Lake Michigan for sailboard training. The kids have been in swim lessons all winter at the Y. I'm so proud of the little guppies.  Cumorah's doing laps and just moved up a class. Here's Cumorah showing off her "duck jibe" (that's fancy talk for turning on a windsurf board).

The baby's even got it down

Hang five

Trying out some fancy moves

Used the torch to bend the pipes after temporarily filling them with sand. The joints came off an old boom. Sewing the canvas seams nearly did in the sewing machine.

Can't wait for warm weather to get this stuff out on the water again

Birthday Cakes

Lots of birthday cake fun this year. The green cake plate is still around and getting plenty of use.  Sidon requested both a truck cake and a dinosaur cake. Leave it to Maryann to pull that off.

 Rivers requested a unicorn.

I gave her lots of other ideas but she insisted on the unicorn. She was thrilled with it.

 Maryann's cake

It was tough keeping this one's hands off her cake.

Cumorah helped create the Rapunzel tower cake.  It wasn't as big as the one in the pictures, but she loved it and it was exactly what she wanted
